Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need to do prior to the scheduled cleaning?
A: I like to be able to park close to where we are entering the home. I will need a water supply (outside spigot). If it is icy please have driveway and walkway clear. Please have any small breakables removed in areas where I am moving furniture. If there are any large debris ,excessive pet hair etc. on carpeting please vacuum.

Q: What types of chemicals do you use?
A: I hate the word "chemical" ,I use natural cleaning "agents" and they are perfectly safe for everyone! In some instances I may need to use something other than a natural spotter ,in which case I will ask for your approval first.

Q: Is your method of cleaning the best?
A: The method I use -which is steam- is recommended by most carpet manufacturers. Some manufacturers will void the warranty if hot water/steam extraction is not used for maintenance.

Q: I was told that once you clean your carpets they will get dirty faster and
be ruined. Is this true?

A: It depends on the method as well as the operator doing the work. Years ago many people had their carpeting "shampooed" ,basically a detergent was scrubbed into carpet leaving dirt attracting residue. Unfortunately there are still a lot of companies cleaning this way. I use an "emulsifier" this is something that helps to facilitate the removal of oily soils by creating a "bond" between the soils and water. The emulsifier also acts as a fiber rinse ,so it will help rid your carpet of some of the previous cleaning solutions left behind!

Q:
How long do the carpets stay wet?
A: Average drying times range from 3 - 10 hours. A carpet can take 16 hours to dry if it is in poor condition ,cleaned on a very humid day and with no air conditioning -this would be extreme-.

Q: Why are the price ranges so drastic from one cleaner to the next?
A: Some companies practice "Bait and Switch" tactics. They start out with real low price -to get their foot in your door- then charge you extra for services like pre-conditioning , deodorizer ,etc. I have no interest in doing business this way ,you will not even be asked for these so called "extras" ! Why? Because they are included in my prices!

Q: What is a "Truck mount" ?
A: A "Truck mount" is the machine I use for cleaning. It is very powerful piece of machinery that is mounted in the van. This machines provide high heat , pressure and vacuum. Two hoses are brought into the home - one vacuum and one solution line -and there is never a need to use your hot water.
